Fruitful English.

Hi! Today I’ll give you more information about fruitful learning English.  I have recently read different articles about preparation to IELTS and in one of that I have found handy web site. This it is:  http://www.newscientist.com. This is extremely useful site, here you can acquaint with words that might be found in reading task at the exam.  In the following I have copied one of the item from wed site and have written out unknown words for me. And finally I would like to say sorry for definitions, it might be short and not exact.

Boosting bacteria in drinking water may improve health

Every gallon of purified drinking water is home to hundreds of millions of bacteria. Water treatment facilities try to remove them – but perhaps encouraging some of the microbes to grow could benefit human health.  Lutgarde Raskin of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor says that workers at water treatment facilities across the US try to destroy all of the bacteria in drinking water with infusions of chlorine and other disinfectants. But this is nearly impossible to achieve with the current technology.
The present approach also ignores the fact that the drinking water microbiome contains some bacteria that can be beneficial. For instance, nitrates that can contaminate drinking water could be converted by some bacteria into harmless nitrogen gas. Raskin and her team suggest that encouraging the growth of these bacteria in drinking water could actually improve the quality and safety of the product.
Between April and October 2010, the researchers analysed bacterial DNA in drinking water treated at municipal facilities in Ann Arbor. They wanted to work out exactly which bacteria were present, and what factors influenced the abundance of the various components of the bacterial community.
They found that slightly altering the water's pH during the filtration process, or even changing how filters were cleaned, helped good bacteria outcompete more harmful microorganisms for the limited resources in the water.
"It does no good to try to remove bacteria entirely," says Raskin. "We are suggesting that a few simple changes can be made that will give bacteria that are good for human health an edge over harmful competitors."

Speak like a native speaker!

Hi! Today I was listening fun english lessons podcasts from web site china 232.  I'm totally mad about it) China 232 was organized by two brothers from Canada who want to help people to learn english. I would like to show you next lesson about blogging.
What I like most of all is really useful phrases which marked and write out from the text. It can help to do spech more fluency and make it closer to native speaker. I usually boost my vocabulary using this web site. And I suggest all of people studying english to do the same thing.

Blogging

As of July 31 2006, the number of blogs worldwide was reported to have topped 50 million.  According to reports, the blogosphere was doubling every 6 months or so with more than 2 new blogs created every second.  Many people enjoy reading blogs more than a news report because they enjoy the free writing style and the unbiased opinions.  Some of the most successful bloggers have been able to turn their hobby into a full time career by monetizing their blogs with pay per click advertising and donations.  Although possible, these cases are few and far between and it’s recommended that most bloggers don’t quit their day jobs.

Breaking the ice.

The reason of the creating this blog is really simple; I just want to speak English!

Firstly I would like to say that my interest in creating blog was sparked my English teacher Tania. After one of the lesson she suggested to start general blog for her students, where they might write about the things that they have learned at the classes. That evening I started to write post and I really enjoyed it! I already have written 6 posts in the common blog and this morning I decided to create my own.

Secondly I have to tell about what I going to write here. You know, I will discuss those things which we have been learning in our classes and pretty informative English idioms, grammar structures, words, linkers’ and so on ; all that I will find at social networks, internet and maybe in  books.

Finally I would probably say that I want my mini project to be extremely useful for both readers and me.

P.S.  In advance I apologize for grammar mistakes, I just intermediate student. Please go easy on me!)
